Westlake Village's Holiday Season Lands on One December Sunday at The Shoppes

Of the holiday dates organizers have posted so far, Sunday, December 6, is the one to keep open. That afternoon the City of Westlake Village and Chabad of the Conejo both hold events at the same address, 30770 Russell Ranch Road, an hour apart. The day before, the Rotary Club of Westlake Village opens its annual European-style marketplace. For now, most of the town's confirmed holiday calendar fits into one weekend.

The Afternoon of December 6 at 30770 Russell Ranch Road

The city's calendar lists its Holiday Sing-Along from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 30770 Russell Ranch Road. The city says more details are coming soon, so the program and any registration information are still to be posted on the City of Westlake Village event page.

Chabad of the Conejo has scheduled "Chanukah at the Shoppes" for 4 p.m. that same Sunday at The Shoppes at Westlake Village, also at 30770 Russell Ranch Road. According to Chabad of the Conejo's event listing, it's a grand menorah lighting, and the organizer calls it free and open to the whole community.

Here's the afternoon in order, using each organizer's posted times:

  1. 3 p.m. The city's Holiday Sing-Along begins at The Shoppes.
  2. 4 p.m. Chabad of the Conejo's grand menorah lighting begins at the same address. Listed features include a circus act, live music and a concert, a children's choir, and latkes, jelly donuts, crafts and dreidels.
  3. 6 p.m. The sing-along's listed end time.

The two organizers list these as separate events. Still, a family that arrives at 3 p.m. could be at the same shopping center for both. Chabad's listing says the menorah lighting is sponsored in part by a grant from the Alan and Annette Leve Family Foundation.

The Saturday Before Belongs to a Westlake Village Club, Held in Thousand Oaks

The weekend actually starts on Saturday. Holidays in the Village, A European Marketplace, runs December 5 and 6, 2026, at The Oaks in Thousand Oaks. The Rotary Club of Westlake Village organizes it. Admission and parking are free and no tickets are required, according to the Holidays in the Village site.

The organizers describe a traditional European winter festival with artisan shops, fresh European foods and baked goods, mulled wine, hot cider and specialty craft brews. Hours aren't on the homepage, so check the organizer's Plan Your Visit page before you head out.

For anyone in Westlake Village, that makes Saturday a day at The Oaks with a club named for the town, and Sunday an afternoon on Russell Ranch Road with the city and Chabad of the Conejo. You can do both without missing anything, because nothing else confirmed for the area competes with them on those dates.

The Center Hosting December Is in the Middle of Changing Tenants

The Shoppes at Westlake Village will look different on December 6 than it did a year ago. Over the summer and early fall, three changes on Russell Ranch Road were tracked in the Ventura County Local openings and closings roundup, which credits Conejo Valley Guide for each one:

  • Novo Cafe closed Monday, June 29, after seven years at 30770 Russell Ranch Road. Its original Burbank and Toluca Lake location remains open.
  • Crumbl closed its store at 30768 Russell Ranch Road by August 22, after four years. The company points customers to its Newbury Park shop.
  • MINISO, the lifestyle chain known for plushies, stationery, beauty and licensed character goods, is moving into the former Tilly's at The Shoppes. No opening date has been announced.

Note that Novo Cafe's former address is the same 30770 Russell Ranch Road listed for both December 6 events. The gathering will take place at a center with an Italian restaurant gone, a cookie shop gone and a new retailer on the way. December 6 may be a good afternoon to see which storefronts have reopened under new names.

Across Town, the Promenade's Grocery Space Is About to Reopen

The other shopping center Westlake residents use most also has a holiday-season story, and this one is about groceries. The Amazon Fresh at The Promenade at Westlake opened in August 2022 and closed on Monday, April 28, according to Conejo Valley Guide. The Ventura County Star reported on October 4, 2025, that "a different Amazon-owned grocery store will take the place of the recently closed Amazon Fresh," and that there was no planned opening date at the time.

That replacement is Whole Foods Market. As of this week, its careers page lists a "Westlake Village (WLK)" store at 140 Promenade Way and says it is "Opening Fall 2026." The Promenade's own directory still labels the store "Coming Soon." Fall 2026 is the timing from a hiring post, not an announced grand-opening date. Still, the job listing shows what the store will have:

  • A bakery with counter service and a coffee bar
  • Prepared foods covering pizza, charcuterie, hot food, a salad bar and sandwiches
  • A meat counter for fresh, frozen and smoked natural meats and poultry, plus a seafood department with fresh, frozen and smoked seafood
  • A specialty department with cheese, beer, chocolate and housewares
  • E-commerce shoppers for online orders

If the store opens on the schedule its hiring page gives, it would be open for at least part of the holiday cooking season. The Promenade also lists Arhaus, a furniture showroom, as coming soon, with no date yet.

Until Whole Foods opens, the Sunday Westlake Village Farmers Market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2797 Agoura Road, according to its market page.

Before December, Thanksgiving Week

The weeks before the December 5–6 weekend have their own fixed dates. These are confirmed for 2026:

Thursday, November 26: Five07 Turkey Day Dash. The event takes place at Memorial Field, California Lutheran University, 60 West Olsen Road in Thousand Oaks. Festivities start at 7 a.m., the Zack Zernik Mile at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 8:30 a.m., according to Conejo Valley Guide.

Thursday, November 26: Thanksgiving at the Four Seasons. Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village, 2 Dole Drive, is serving a Thanksgiving Brunch Buffet in The Hamptons from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The hotel is also listing Thanksgiving specials at Coin & Candor that day, per its fall programming announcement.

Tuesdays through December 29 and Thursdays through December 24: RED O at The Promenade. The center's events page lists Taco Tuesdays with happy hour extended from 2 p.m. to close, and Tulum Thursdays with complimentary sangria, tequila tastings and food samples.

If you're watching how Russell Ranch Road and The Promenade change with each new tenant, we watch the same corners, because they shape what it's like to live in Westlake Village day to day.
